Yesterday's late swim workout was cut short because it was unbelievably packed at the YMCA closest to my work. I'd never seen it so busy with swim teams in 2 lanes, swim lessons in 2 other lanes, free swimming (mostly people water walking) in one lane and lap swim (me and 4 others) in the last lane. Lots of people were waiting and I'd already gotten 2000 in so I cut it short.
I was pretty happy with my 50's for a slow poke. They were all under 45 seconds and my 25's were between 19.5-20.5. 500's came in at around 9:00 and the pulls and kicks were just nice and easy. My unattainable last swim wish is to get my 1000 at 18 minutes, I'm very happy with 19 but I get 20 often enough.
Here's the swim song that revs me up for repeats - Metric's Black Sheep
My mortgage paperwork is getting processed, I have a new car policy that's way cheaper than the one I've had the last few years and I'm packing to leave on a plane for offsite training tomorrow.
Oh, and surgery is on Tuesday. I've been practicing driving with my left foot because hell if I'm going to wait 4 weeks to drive!! So drivers in Louisville, watch out. I might be putting that car policy to the test soon.
Surgeon said he's 90% sure he'll have to reshape the bone around the hip which means 4-6 weeks on crutches and definite weight restrictions on the right leg when I'm off crutches. But immediately I'll have to start cycling, like day 2. So for Thanksgiving, I'll be having my own 2x30 minute Little 500.
I'm going to be stuck upstairs for 6 days! So Monday I'll be looking for lots of movies or TV series to keep me occupied. My "work husband" highly recommended Eastbound & Down to cater to my crude side. I'm looking for something sci-fi and fun like Eureka.
The weird thing about all of this is even though I'm signing up for the most debt ever and my job is miserable, I'm still going for this homeowner thing. Just to say I did it. Everything could be turned inside out but it will be okay because I've been rock bottom. This home could be a very long or the shortest chapter in my life ever but it's alright. I'll borrow from Shah, I'll float on. It's okay.
ok ok ok ok ok
Inspection cleared, bank application is in, tentative close date is December 14!!!!!!!!!
My daughter was with me for my first presidential election and today, she cast her own vote for president for the first time.
After voting, I did pre-admission testing at the hospital for my surgery. I have officially filed my living will and health care power of attorney paperwork. I would like to add should anything happen to me, my peeps will be required to beat their chests, point to the sky and scream "WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY????!!!!!" and possibly start riots. Xangans should create dedication sites. They must make front page. My god, nobody but us chickens is here anymore so getting front page should be relatively easy, right?
Diving in yet again, this is it. If this house doesn't come through then I'm just going to live in my car by the river.
I'll find out tomorrow. This is the same price as the Hello Kitty house except there's no tree of doom and it seems bigger. There's no calling personality with this house so I'll have to create it from scratch. It's a baby. It needs life.
This weekend, I met with a blast from the past, T., and we had a great conversation. She shared a lot of personal things and I admire her determination to just keep on. She's also entertaining as hell so it was a highlight of my week just to see her. A tidbit of a story was how one of her friends was held up somewhere in Baltimore - the thief took her purse and her pizza. How terrible is that?!! We also discovered we're getting way too old for pumped in bar music that gets exponentially louder and air conditioning that gets exponentially colder as the night goes on. Live music and and sweat. Is that too much to ask?
I also cheered for Run the Ville (and ex-Run the Ville) peeps for the LSC Half-Marathon that turned into a duck waddle. Didn't freeze me to the bone but I think if I were running in it for an hour, I'd be pretty chilly. Great job everybody!
My younger sister came into town and we got to talk about my mom, politics, classism, religion, our other sisters. You know, the usual. My niece gave her dad a huge, huge, huge pile of Butterfingers for the parent tax. And her mom got one Twix which she tried to take back. WTF?
