Jog Blog: Speed Work

3 x 1200 repeats, 400 recovery, goal 6:35ish adjusted for the crowd

1) 6:36
2) 6:47 worn out, thought about calling it quits then
3) 6:39

Eh, close enough.

1 mile warm up and cool down

There were lots and lots of teenage boys out at my dad's track last night, an unofficial football conditioning session.  There were also two boys around 10 or 11 running laps and lapping us all along with the roller blade guy I've seen there every time I've used this location.  There were only four lanes, no water fountains and no shade.  I'm glad I brought extra water because the kids took me up on it.

@Shahrazad1973 - I think I'm gonna start calling it slogging, a sloggish jog.  It's a bump up from power scooting, power shuffling and power hobbling.

It's a wet heat.  I decided I hate both wet and dry heats.  Dry heat gave me nose bleeds.  Wet heat makes everything flora and fauna stick to me.  Ever have bugs stuck in your arm pit?

So where's your vacation gonna be?

@Lenore_Happenstance - yeah, pretty much all heat can kiss my ass at this point. Dry or wet, it's all icky hot.

Not sure exactly where to go yet - still exploring, but gotta decide soon if i'm to get affordable tickets for anything!

@Shahrazad1973 - If you can decide TONIGHT . . . Southwest is having a 48 hour sale that started yesterday for flights as far off as the middle of November.  I just booked my flight for my marathon.  The prices are anywhere from $30 - $90 depending on how far you go.  The last few weeks, the prices were over $300 for a round trip ticket for me to go to Texas so I saved a bunch.

Reminds me of the 5K where some elementary school kid sprinted right by me in front of a group of spectators who cheered him on feverishly while ignoring the geezer. C'est la vie.

@run_karatekid - It's a good cause.  I e-mailed your link to a friend who said she'll donate tonight.  We had a weight loss contest last month with the wager being a donation to the winner's charity of choice.

You rock.

And not just because you kept some hooligoonies from getting overheated.
